Zachariah joined BCNA in 2003 to assist in the development of an effective outreach strategy for refugees from Africa. As a Loan Officer for the Refugee Program, he works closely with refugees starting businesses in New York City for the first time or trying to expand their businesses. Coming from Liberia in 1996 as a contender for the 100-meter race in the Olympics, he could not return to Liberia due to civil war. He worked odd jobs before finding employment at Lutheran Social Services of Metropolitan New York as a medical case manager.
Zachariah has a BSC in biology from the University of Liberia and a Masterís in Community Health from Long Island University. He is an active member of the Liberian community on Staten Island and attends community events with his wife and six children.
